Understand What Comes Next
More Definitive Information
Examining a tissue sample can provide details that may not be possible to determine from visual examination alone.
Focused Evaluation
Only the area that requires additional investigation is sampled, allowing the procedure to remain targeted to the specific concern.
In-Office Convenience
When appropriate, a skin biopsy can be performed within your medical care at Concierge Wellness Center without requiring a separate procedure visit elsewhere.
Guided Follow-Up
Once results are available, your physician can explain the findings and help determine whether observation, treatment, additional testing, or specialist care should follow.

Any Questions?
Yes. Skin biopsies can be used to evaluate suspicious tissue for cancerous or precancerous changes, but they are also used to diagnose many noncancerous skin conditions. Having a biopsy recommended does not mean that cancer has already been diagnosed.
Timing can vary depending on the laboratory and whether additional analysis is necessary. Your CWC physician can let you know how and when to expect your results and discuss them with you once they are available.
Aftercare depends somewhat on the biopsy technique used. You may be instructed to keep the area clean and protected while it heals and to watch for unexpected changes. Follow the specific wound-care instructions provided by your physician.
The next step depends on the biopsy findings. Your physician can review what the result means and determine whether the area requires treatment, additional evaluation, continued monitoring, or referral to an appropriate specialist.
Any procedure that removes skin can potentially leave a small scar. Its appearance can depend on the biopsy method, size and location of the sample, individual healing, and how the site is cared for afterward.
A skin biopsy may be recommended when an area looks unusual, has changed, persists without healing, or cannot be fully evaluated through a physical examination. The purpose is to obtain tissue that can be examined more closely.
