In this episode, I will talk about some of the non-surgical aesthetic procedures and the pros and cons compared to surgical procedures. We will also talk about what are some of the popular nonsurgical procedures.
In recent years, there have been a lot of advancements in non-surgical aesthetic technologies.
Using lasers, IPL, radio frequency, micro-needling, and ultrasound, these devices will create microtrauma to the skin to stimulate the healing process leading to increased production of collagen and elastin, thus improving wanted signs of aging, including wrinkles, saggy skin, and pigmentations such as sun spots, melasma, tattoos, and birthmarks.
Some of these devices are even great for improving acne scars or surgical scars. Now we even have FDA-cleared technologies for building muscles and removing fat from different parts of the body.
For the first time, we can even tighten the muscles and skin on the face which
can be an alternative to a surgical facelift.
There is a number of benefits to nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. First, obviously, it is non-invasive.
Second, there is much shorter downtime or no downtime compared to surgical procedures.
The typical procedures will take anywhere from 30 minutes to a little over an hour, whereas if you undergo surgical procedures, you will need to undergo preoperative evaluations, and typically the recovery time is in weeks.
Third, surgical procedures are by definition more dangerous given anesthesia needed and potential for
complications.
Thank you.
